Over our 45-plus-year history, we have developed a set of guidelines and policies that set the standard for professionalism in the TL and LTL trucking business.
We own our own fleet and do not employ owner-operated vehicles. Our trucks are equipped with the latest Global Positioning System and modern communication devices. This allows us to ensure accurate and timely delivery of your product, whether it be standard delivery or expedited/rush delivery.

Our History
Best Yet Express has grown and evolved a lot over the last few decades. We’ve seen other companies come and go, but we’ve managed to stay at the top of the industry by sticking to our core values.
Of course, no business reaches the top overnight, but our progress has been stead and strong over the years.
The roots of Best Yet Express trace back to 1978 when the company was founded by husband and wife team, Chris and Sherry Newjahr with a vision to revolutionize the trucking industry in California. From humble beginnings with just 1 truck, Best Yet Express quickly gained a reputation for reliability, efficiency, and personalized service. With a focus on exceeding customer expectations, the company steadily grew its fleet and expanded its reach across the state.

1970’s
Best Yet Express was founded in 1978 with a single pickup truck by our founders Chris and Sherry Newjahr, mother and father of our current owner and CEO, Jay Newjahr. The company was operated out of their home in Hawthorne, CA where they shared the startup responsibilities while raising their 2 young children.
Our 1st client was a plastic bottle company. This was revolutionary at a time when glass bottles were largely used instead of plastic. This company continued to expand, which meant a growing need for reliable transportation. This led to a second pickup truck and a freight van being added to our growing fleet at Best Yet Express to handle the increased demand of the client.
1980’s
Hewlett Packard (HP) and National Cash Register (NCR) become our latest clientele. These new clients required us to expand our fleet by adding two bobtails.
During this decade, we saw plastic bottle manufacturers begin emerging at a rapid rate, and with them came companies creating labels for the bottles, and labs producing the products that went inside. To help meet this increased demand, we added our first warehouse space, which measured 2,000 sq. ft. This led to Vidal Sassoon, Freeman Cosmetic, Saint Ives, and other cosmetic companies, big and small, becoming clients. Because of this tremendous growth, we needed to expand our fleet again, adding 3 tractor trailers.
1990’s
With the continued growth of the company into the 90’s, we continued expanding out fleet by adding 4 additional tractor trailers and 3 more bobtails.
We also needed to expand our warehousing and began operations at a 6,000 sq. ft. warehouse.
Towards the end of this decade, Jay, our current owner and CEO, becan working at the company as a night-time dock worker while he attended college during the day.
2000’s
Throughout the decade we continued to see the company grow which led to our fleet expanding with 12 new tracks.
During this time, we also saw Lara, one of our current owners, COO, and Jay’s wife, join the team as the marketing manager.
2010’s
In the beginning of the current decade, we continued to see the company grow and expand its clientele leading us to move our operations to a 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse and adding 10 more trucks to our fleet.
About the middle of the decade, we saw more change take place at the company. Due to continued growth, we moved our operations to an 80,000 sq. ft. warehouse. During this time, we also saw Chris retire from the family business and Jay & Lara purchase the company while continuing to expand the business.
We expanded again by adding a second warehouse with an additional 90,000 sq. ft. of space, and an additional 4 trucks to the fleet.
2020’s To Current
BYX moved into a brand new, fully racked, state-of-the-art, warehouse facility, tripling their warehouse capacity.
2022 – BYX upgrades their entire fleet of trucks to new models and adds 4 new managers to the team.
